Ryan Gropp, a 6’2″, 183 lbs LW who shoots left was selected 41st overall by the NY Rangers. Aside from Emerson Etem, the other key piece in moving Carl Hagelin was to move up in the second round.

Here’s some scouting reports for Gropp:

A big-bodied player at 6’3, Ryan Gropp is making a splash in the WHL and he is quickly becoming a fan-favorite with the Seattle Thunderbirds. A potential elite-level power forward, he has all of the technical tools, as well as the natural size that lets him bulldoze his way to the front of the net, to be a constantly dangerous scoring threat. He is a tremendous blend of work ethic and tenacity (digging in deep; never giving up on the play), hockey-IQ (creative and responsible mind for the game), and skill (skating, hands, patience, and vision). My NHL Draft
Certainly, size won’t be a question surrounding Ryan Gropp, as the young power forward checks in at 6-2 and around 185 pounds. Gropp is an above average skater for a large frame player, able to beat defenders to the outside and is at his best when he lowers his shoulder and takes the puck to the net. With a pro style shot and competitive nature, Gropp could be the power forward that so many NHL teams covet, and will be a natural standout when the games matter most.Along The Boards
