What can we expect from Michael Grabner next season?

In what turned into one of the best signings of last summer, Michael Grabner made Jeff Gorton look like a genius. In his first season with the Rangers, Grabner put together his first 20 goal season since 2011-12, netting 27 in 76 games. More importantly, Grabner played a vital role on the penalty kill for the Blueshirts as his speed reeked havoc for opposing teams. Grabner reached the 20 goal mark in mid-January, but from mid-January to April, Grabner scored just seven goals. Grabner’s 2016-17 campaign is actually a beautiful symbol for the entire New York Rangers 2016-17 season. Started slow, fizzled fast, came up big at times but still came up short.

The hockey world was fixed on Las Vegas Wednesday night when the Golden Knights inaugural roster was announced at the NHL Awards show. Just as there were no surprises on who the New York Rangers would protect and not protect, it was no surprise who the Vegas Golden Knights chose from the New York Rangers. There were a few names that made sense for the Knights to select from including Michael Grabner, Anti Raanta, Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg. Vegas went for a sensible option choosing the young Oscar Lindberg.

Rangers Rumor Roundup: Expansion is Upon Us

Hello again! @NHLRumorsDaily here with another rumor roundup, this one coming with less than 12 hours until the Vegas Golden Knights pick their roster. As you could imagine, numerous trades with Vegas have been made, however, the Rangers have NOT reached a deal with George McPhee and the Knights, as per NYPost’s Larry Brooks. The Rangers were speculated to be working on a trade, to protect valuable backup goaltender Antti Raanta, as well as 27 goal scorer Michael Grabner.
