There are three certainties as a New York Rangers fan; death, taxes and a reliable goaltending tandem. Any expectations for NYR goalies would be impossible without acknowledging Benoit Allaire. Read more

On June 23, 2017, the Rangers traded center Derek Stepan and goalie Anti Raanta to Arizona for the Coyotes first round pick (pick#7) and enigma defenseman Anthony DeAngelo. The New Jersey native has put up eye-popping numbers in his AHL career, so there should no questioning his offensive abilities. He is right-handed, shoots the puck very well, has exceptional hands and is a fantastic skater. DeAngelo is your classic offensive defenseman.
Last Friday, the Rangers traded forward Derek Stepan and backup goaltender Antti Raanta to the Arizona Coyotes for defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and the seventh overall pick, which was used to draft center, Lias Andersson.

Hello All! @NHLRumorsDaily here again with another rumor roundup of the latest Rangers news from the past 24 hours. The window is now open for the Blueshirts and the 30 other NHL teams to gauge interest from all pending free agents, and there are at least three names that I can confirm the Rangers have reached out to. Another top priority for the Rangers has been to re-sign defenseman Brendan Smith, and it seems to be heading that way based on recent reports of the talks between the two camps.

But with these moves, the Rangers have lost two centermen and a backup goalie that need replacing. Add in Dan Girardi’s buyout, and Gorton will have to find all the right pieces to fill in those gaps.
The Rangers have traded forward Derek Stepan and backup goaltender Antti Raanta to the Arizona Coyotes for young defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and the 7th overall pick in tonight’s entry draft.
Over the last week or so, Rangers center Derek Stepan’s name has come up prominently in trade rumors, which have been confirmed by many of the most clued in hockey insiders. Then, six days ago, Rangers insider Larry Brooks sent out this tweet:
The hockey world was fixed on Las Vegas Wednesday night when the Golden Knights inaugural roster was announced at the NHL Awards show. Just as there were no surprises on who the New York Rangers would protect and not protect, it was no surprise who the Vegas Golden Knights chose from the New York Rangers. There were a few names that made sense for the Knights to select from including Michael Grabner, Anti Raanta, Jesper Fast and Oscar Lindberg. Vegas went for a sensible option choosing the young Oscar Lindberg.
