The off-season and free agency have been off to a strong start for the organization. Jeff Gorton is restocking and rebuilding the prospect pool while improving the Rangers themselves. The upcoming season looks promising in Hartford with two strong signings for the American Hockey League club. The addition of Kevin Shattenkirk provided more depth in the organization as well.

Why You’re Going to Love Filip Chytil

With the 21st pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft, the New York Rangers selected forward Filip Chytil from HC Zlin of the Czech Extraliga. Many were confused about the pick, as there were still bigger names on the board, including Kailer Yamamoto and Eeli Tolvanen. I questioned the pick as well, but ultimately, I’m not an NHL scout and decided to give this pick the benefit of the doubt. Those who gave him the benefit of the doubt are looking pretty smart after digging into his stats, his style of play, and his developments over the past few days.

Rangers Draft New Jersey Born Defenseman Brandon Crawley

London Knights defenseman Brandon Crawley was drafted by the Rangers with the 123rd overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He is a little older than most players in this draft, so that will come with a little caution. This wasn’t the only player Rangers selected at 20 years old in this draft (Dominik Lakatos). Greetings readers,

My name is Ricky and I look forward to providing phenomenal coverage for the New York Rangers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. I have been a season ticket holder for the club since 2010. Prior to that, I attended games throughout my childhood. I have seen Ryan Callahan, Mats Zuccarello, Dan Girardi, Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, Artem Anisimov, and many others develop in Hartford. The list is lengthy on who has made it to the big leagues. I have seen some of the worst and best moments in franchise history, such as the Pack reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2014-15 season to the worst, a defeat of 10-2 against the Springfield Falcons (now Tuscon Road Runners). I am currently a college student at the University of Connecticut and attend Hockey East matches to watch the Huskies.

No Surprises From The Rangers

In what has been a hectic week and a half for hockey fans, the Vegas Golden Knights finally know which players they can poach from the NHL’s thirty other teams. And when it comes to the Rangers list of protected players, there really were no surprises when the list was revealed this morning. Jeff Gorton and his staff were left with two options to decide which players to protect. They could either go with the seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie option, which would allow them to protect the maximum amount of players possible. Or they could go with the eight skaters and a goalie option, in hopes of protecting more forwards than defensemen.
