Pack Should Thrive With Ideal Schedule

Wolf Pack Win!

On Tuesday afternoon, the American Hockey League released Hartford’s 21st schedule.  The journey begins at home on Friday, October 6th against a former foe, the Charlotte Checkers. Charlotte returns to Hartford for the first time since the 2010-11 season. In addition, Hartford will face the newly established franchises of Rockets de Laval, Binghamton Devils, and the Belleville Senators. The season features a balanced schedule between the home and away slate. From October 6th to December 31st, Hartford will play 17 games both on the road and in Hartford. In 2018, Hartford plays 21 home and away contests. However, there will be one challenge for the upcoming season. Hartford plays three games in three nights multiple times and that will be tough. Overall, Hartford has the upper hand from a scheduling perspective. Compared to other teams, the club has balance in each month. Travel is logical and when they do go far, it is for multiple games with rest periods. Let’s dissect the schedule!

Is Anthony DeAngelo The Real Deal?

USA TODAY

On June 23, 2017, the Rangers traded center Derek Stepan and goalie Anti Raanta to Arizona for the Coyotes first round pick (pick#7) and enigma defenseman Anthony DeAngelo. The New Jersey native has put up eye-popping numbers in his AHL career, so there should no questioning his offensive abilities. He is right-handed, shoots the puck very well, has exceptional hands and is a fantastic skater. DeAngelo is your classic offensive defenseman.

Why You’re Going to Love Filip Chytil

With the 21st pick in the 2017 NHL entry draft, the New York Rangers selected forward Filip Chytil from HC Zlin of the Czech Extraliga. Many were confused about the pick, as there were still bigger names on the board, including Kailer Yamamoto and Eeli Tolvanen. I questioned the pick as well, but ultimately, I’m not an NHL scout and decided to give this pick the benefit of the doubt. Those who gave him the benefit of the doubt are looking pretty smart after digging into his stats, his style of play, and his developments over the past few days.

Rangers Draft New Jersey Born Defenseman Brandon Crawley

London Knights defenseman Brandon Crawley was drafted by the Rangers with the 123rd overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He is a little older than most players in this draft, so that will come with a little caution. This wasn’t the only player Rangers selected at 20 years old in this draft (Dominik Lakatos). This is also another player the Rangers drafted that is probably closer to becoming a pro than most of the other players in this draft.
