It’s August. The dog days of the NHL offseason. Fans are chomping at the bit wanting hockey more than ever. Tweets of “Is it October Yet?” appearing on everyone’s timeline as we wait for the start of the NHL season.

Entering her second professional season with the NWHL’s New York Riveters, star forward Rebecca Russo has already compiled quite the hockey resume. National Champion, three time Hockey East Champion, NWHL All-Star and winner of the Fastest Skater competition and holds 3 records at Boston University, Fastest Goal in a Game (0:12 seconds), Most Assists in a Game (5) and Latest Goal in a Game (0:03 seconds). The title is a joke, the two sides are not going to “court” per say. Nobody is seeking damages or a conviction, but the aftermath of a team and it’s player actually making it in front of an arbitrator and having that arbitrator decide the player’s contract doesn’t always leave the nicest of tastes in the player and team’s mouth walking away.
